Projects

Welcome to a land filled with contradictions: a trash dump filled with people, a hazardous wasteland surrounded by tropical paradise, and a dark place filled with beautiful light.

The projects of Love Light & Melody are both within the heart of the trash dump and in the surrounding community of Managua. We work alongside partnering organizations to make a difference today and tomorrow.

Community Development

Through diplomatic, community, and nonprofit relationships, Love Light & Melody is establishing itself as an expert on life in the trash dump community, building relationships more than buildings.

Both short-term and long-term goals for the community are being considered: to affirm the people, develop job opportunities, and establish a secure and sustainable landfill elsewhere in Managua.

School of Hope

In the very heart of the trash dump Escuela de Esperanza (School of Hope) is a privately funded elementary school.

Love Light & Melody partners with the school to help fund its feeding program, recreation, and art classes. The school serves over 350 kids who attend everyday as a place of refuge and learning.

Vocational School

Love Light & Melody is currently setting up a property in Managua to serve as a vocational school, medical clinic, and recreational center for children and families from the trash dump community.

This multi-purpose property will serve as a safe and beautiful environment to enrich these children's lives.

Day of Light

This annual event brings together the trash dump community, local and international nonprofits, college students, and the friends and family of Love Light & Melody.

From sunrise to sunset, the day celebrates life, joy, and hope through music, games, and an active participation in daily life.
